The CM4 IO Computer is a versatile industrial computer series designed to build upon the capabilities of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4, coupled with a complementary IO board. This system is tailored to accommodate a range of applications with its configurable RAM options, allowing for 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB of memory, and a selection of storage capacities ranging from 8GB to 32GB eMMC. For added flexibility, the CM4 IO Computer also supports booting from an SD Card.

Visual output is enhanced through the support of two standard HDMI connectors, each capable of delivering 4K high-definition video. The system includes two channels of USB 2.0 and one Gigabit Ethernet port for reliable data transfer. For imaging and display, the CM4 IO Computer is equipped with two 4-channel CSI interfaces and two 4-channel DSI interfaces. These interfaces are compatible with Raspberry Pi's official cameras and displays, requiring an adapter cable for connection. Wireless communication is well catered for with dual-band 2.4G/5.8G WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0, complete with certified WiFi/Bluetooth antennas.

The CM4 IO Computer also includes a user-accessible green button for system on/off control, and a PWM-controlled fan that manages CPU temperature automatically, increasing speed as the CPU heats up and slowing down when the temperature decreases. An additional feature is the standard 40-pin signal expansion connector, which allows users to expand the unit with PCIe devices through a PCIe 1x Gen2 socket. The onboard, battery-backed real-time clock (RTC) can wake the CPU from shutdown mode, providing further control over the system's operation.

The device's connectivity is bolstered by a 10/100/1000 Ethernet port that supports POE power supply when used with the official PoE HAT, along with two USB 2.0 ports and a Micro USB Slave port for system programming. Storage is also well accounted for with a microSD card slot, although this is not functional in the CM4 EMMC version.

The CM4 IO Computer is designed to operate within a temperature range of 0 to 50 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for a variety of environments. Its dimensions are 171.5mm in length, 109.5mm in width, and 28.5mm in height, providing a compact form factor that can be easily integrated into industrial setups. The device comes pre-installed with Raspberry Pi Raspbian OS, offering a familiar and supportive software environment for developers.

For those looking to expand the capabilities of the CM4 IO Computer, the system's PCIe interface and 40-pin GPIO connector provide a platform for adding daughter cards and other peripherals. The company also offers custom design services for those who require specific adaptations, with a minimum order quantity for custom designs.

FAQ

1.  Could I add a daughter card through a 40pin connector, can this computer support such expansion?

It will depend on the size of the daughter card and whether you need additional holes on the metal case for the connectors on your daughter card, if the metal case doesn’t fit, we can offer the custom design services based on your requirement. The MOQ is 100pcs/batch.
