Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5

Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5

The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 (CM5) is a System on Module (SoM) containing processor, memory, eMMC Flash, and supporting power circuitry.

Key Featured
  • High-performance processor: Equipped with a Broadcom BCM2712 quad-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 processor, running at 2.4GHz, with performance three times that of the CM4.
  • Powerful graphics processing capabilities: Features a VideoCore VII GPU, supporting OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.2, suitable for graphics tasks and AI applications.
  • Rich display outputs: Supports dual 4Kp60 HDMI outputs, and also has two 4-lane MIPI camera/display transceivers.
  • Flexible memory and storage options: Offers 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB LPDDR4X-4267 SDRAM, as well as 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB eMMC flash storage, and there's also a Lite version without integrated storage.
  • Advanced connectivity: Built-in optional 2.4GHz/5.0GHz IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ac wireless module and Bluetooth 5.0, and supports Gigabit Ethernet.
  • High-speed data transfer interfaces: Equipped with 1 PCIe x1 Gen 2 interface and 2 USB 3.0 interfaces, supporting synchronous 5Gbps operation.
  • Abundant GPIO interfaces: Provides up to 30 GPIOs, supporting 1.8V or 3.3V signals, as well as UART, I2C, SPI and other peripheral options.
  • Compatibility: Mechanically compatible with the CM4, connected to the customer carrier board through a high-density vertical connector.
  • Development kits and accessories: A complete development kit is provided, including the CM5 module, IO board, heat sink, fan and necessary cables, facilitating prototyping.

The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 (CM5) is a System on Module (SoM) containing processor, memory, eMMC Flash, and supporting power circuitry. These modules allow a designer to leverage the Raspberry Pi hardware and software stack in their own custom systems and form factors. In addition, these modules have extra IO interfaces over and above what is available on the Raspberry Pi boards, opening up more options for the designer.

The design of the CM5 is loosely based on the Raspberry Pi 5, and for cost-sensitive applications it can be supplied with‐out the eMMC fitted; this version is called the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 5 Lite (CM5Lite).

The new CM5 and CM5Lite are mostly compatible with the previous generation of compute module. The previous gener‐ation of compute modules are still for sale and will remain in production till at least January 2034. The electrical inter‐face of the CM5 is via two 100-pin high density connectors.

The main change in pinout is to support the addition of 2 USB 3.0 ports.
