The CM4 Cooler is a heatsink specifically designed for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4), which ensures that the CM4 works stably.
Due to the higher performance of CM4, its power consumption will be higher than CM3+. When the ambient temperature is 25°C and the CPU is working at full load, the CPU temperature is close to the temperature limit of 85°C. In addition, the PMU and the wireless module (CM4 with wireless capability) are also very hot. There are three thermal pads on the back of the CM4 Cooler to ensure that the CM4 Cooler can conduct heat and keep the CM4 Cooler tightly connected to the CM4's CPU, wireless module and PMU. The heat from these three components is dissipated by the CM4 Cooler through these three thermal pads.
The CM4 Cooler has four nylon washers in 1.5mm and 3mm height options for use with 100-pin board-to-board connectors in 1.5mm and 3mm heights. They are used to support the CM4 Cooler and avoid damaging the board-to-board connector or deforming the CM4 when screws are used to secure the CM4 Cooler to the CM4. The CM4 Cooler can be stably secured to the CM4, which saves customers money when designing their own backplanes by eliminating the need for soldering the risers that secure the CM4 to the PCB.
When the room temperature is 25℃ and the CPU and DDR memory are fully loaded, CM4 Cooler can reduce the temperature of CM4 by up to 20℃. Actual cooling performance will vary depending on the temperature difference between the environment and the CM4. For more details, please check the CM4 Cooler Thermal Performance Test Report.CM4 Cooler is available in Black and Silver colours. It also supports the full range of Compute Module 4, including the wireless version.
